Welcome to Llanganuco Lodge, South America’s best located mountain lodge.
Please select from our drop down menu above to navigate our webpage.
The lodge is right on the edge of the Huascaran National Park, situated between Llanganuco and Rajururi gorges, adjacent to the lake and ruins of Keushu, nestled on a plot of 5.6 hectares at 3503 meters above sea level.
Llanganuco Lodge sits on the slopes of the Cordillera Blanca, the highest tropical mountain range in the world. The lodge has spectacular views of the three highest peaks in the range: Huascaran South (6768m), North (6664m), and Huandoy (6395m), along with many ice peaks to the south. Of course the sunsets over the Cordillera Negra mountain range to the West are simply incomparable.
Our location provides unparalleled access to the Llanganuco and Rajururi gorges, these gorges are gateways to the National Park. The Llanganuco gorge is the premier attraction of the park and is an easy 25 minute walk. Here lie Pisco, YanaPacha, Chacaraju & Chopicalqui mountains, Lake 69- a World class day trek, the Llanganuco lakes and the Maria Josefa pre-Inca trail, which winds down through the cloud forest from the Chinacocha lake back to the lodge.
In the Rajururi gorge lies the lowest ice in the Cordillera Blanca at only 4000m.The Lodge is the ideal spot to acclimatise in comfort before undertaking some of the most awe inspiring treks in South America.
With home-style hospitality, we offer standard and superior rooms. We anticipate having the Inca suites online for July.
We provide breakfasts, pack-lunches and a 3-course supper which varies depending on what fresh local produce is available. all our prices are full board. For prices: www.llanganuco.com/prices.htm
The lodge’s cristal clear water is from a mountain spring which has been certified by the University of Huaraz for human consumption. It is one of the few places in Peru where you can drink the tap water, and flush your loo paper.
The lodge is a perfect place to visit all-year round. The traditional mountaineering season is May to October, with July and August usually the best. However, contrary to popular opinion the area is a wonderful place to visit all year round for all other sports or just to relax. Visiting outside the busiest months is very rewarding as you can trek for days without seeing another soul and could have great weather too! (check out our great off-peak rates)
